KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (June 1, 2014) - Jake Sanchez spun 7.0 strong innings as the Kannapolis Intimidators dropped the Hagerstown Suns, 5-1, in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader at CMC-NorthEast Stadium.

Sanchez (5-3) struck out six batters, walking none, while allowing a run on five hits to earn the win.

With two outs in the first inning, Trey MIchalczewski put Kannapolis on the board with a 2-run double, driving Danny Hayes and Jacob Morris. Jeremy Dowdy followed with a base hit to plate Michalczewski for a 3-0 lead.

Christian Stringer added a two-run home run (1) with two outs in the sixth for a 5-1 lead. The former Rice Owl was called up to Kannapolis last week from Extended Spring Training.

Hagerstown starter Reynaldo Lopez gave up three runs on five hits over 3.0 innings .... before turning the mound over to Robert Orlan out of the bullpen.

The Intimidators and Suns wrap up this series with the second game of today's doubleheader at 5:35 p.m. as former Charlotte 49ers RHP Tyler Barnette makes the start for Kannapolis. It's also Kid's Day Sunday presented by Cornerstone Church featuring post-game kids run the bases.
