Oklahoma City Comets News Release

The RedHawks broke a 4-4 tie with six runs in the sixth inning Wednesday night and added seven more in the seventh in an 18-5 victory over Albuquerque at Isotopes Park. The RedHawks, who scored 15 runs on 21 hits Tuesday, established a season high for runs in a game for the second straight night and matched the third-highest run total in RedHawks' history.

The win moves the RedHawks over .500 on the season at 44-43 and drops the Isotopes to 47-40.

The RedHawks lead the series 2-1 with the finale Thursday at 8:05 p.m. CDT. It's also the final meeting of the season between the division rivals. Albuquerque's lead in division has been trimmed to three games.

R.A. Dickey (2-3) tossed a complete game for Oklahoma on Wednesday, allowing five runs on 12 hits. Isotopes starter Frank Castillo (7-5) took the loss, allowing nine runs (eight earned) in 5.1 innings.

Catcher Gerald Laird went 4-for-5 with a grand slam and six RBIs, a RedHawks' season-high. Laird's slam in the sixth keyed a six-run inning that gave Oklahoma the lead for good. Esteban German also had a four-hit game, going 4-for-6 with three RBIs.

Every RedHawk had at least one hit and eight players recorded RBIs.

The RedHawks have scored 33 runs on 41 hits in the past two games and have 40 runs on 52 hits in the series. They had totaled 39 runs in the 10 games leading up to this series.

Right-hander John Hudgins takes on Ariel Prieto in Thursday's game, which can be heard on Super Talk 930 WKY and Sportsjuice.com.
