Metairie, LA - The New Orleans Zephyrs were victorious on Thursday against the Nashville Sounds 3-2.
With the Zephyrs down 2-1 in the ninth inning, the leadoff batter J.J. Davis knocked in a solo home run to tie the game, and after the bases were loaded, pinch hitter Josh Labandeira was hit by a pitch to advance the winning run.
Zephyrs reliever Bill Bray (1-0) gets his first win of the season, striking out three batters in the ninth inning.
Sounds reliever Jose Capellan (5-3) gets the loss after giving up the home run in the ninth and hitting Labandeira.
The teams finish their series with Nashville coming out on top 3-1. With the scheduled series against the Iowa Cubs postponed until a later date because of the potential hurricane, the Zephyrs will go on All-Star break and then pick up again in Memphis for a four-game road series against the Redbirds. The road series begins July 14th, and the Zephyrs return home on July 18th.
