Brandon Wagner Named FSL Post-Season All-Star
August 29, 2018 - Florida State League (FSL1)
Tampa Tarpons News Release
Tampa, Fla. - Brandon Wagner was named a 2018 Florida State League Post-Season All-Star on Tuesday, as Florida State League President Ken Carson announced the End-of-Season All-Star Team.
Honorees were chosen based on votes by Field Managers, coaches, official scorers and media/broadcasters representing the twelve (12) teams in the league.
Wagner batted .270/.376/.510 (82-for-304) with 52R, 13 doubles, 20HR, 57RBI and 43BB in 87 games with the Tampa Tarpons and was named a Mid-Season All-Star for the first time in his career.
The 23-year-old fell one home run shy of tying Tampa's single-season record of 21 home runs, accomplished in 2001 by Mitch Jones (Tampa Yankees) and in 1983 by Cressy Pratt (Tampa Tarpons).
Wagner was promoted to Double-A Trenton on July 23rd, but, as of Tuesday, remains ranked second in the FSL in home runs, second in on-base percentage and third in slugging percentage. The Princeton, New Jersey native has since added one home run with Trenton and currently leads all Yankees minor leaguers with 21 home runs.
Selected by the New York Yankees in the sixth round in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Howard College in Texas, Wagner is in his fourth season of professional baseball.
The Tampa Tarpons are the Single-A Advanced Affiliate of the New York Yankees. For more information about the Tampa Tarpons, call (813) 673-3055 or visit TarponsBaseball.com.
