Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Ben Rortvedt drilled a fourth inning grand slam, and finished with six RBI, as the Fort Myers Miracle moved into a first place tie with Charlotte with an 8-3 win over the Bradenton Marauders on Wednesday night at Hammond Stadium.

After singling in a run in the second, Rortvedt drilled a hanging breaking ball over the wall in the fourth to push the Miracle lead to 5-0.

In the fifth, with two runs already in on doubles by Jose Miranda and Travis Blankenhorn, Rortvedt cracked a single into left to pick up his sixth RBI of the night. Rortvedt's single put the Miracle on top 8-0.

Bradenton cut into the deficit with three runs in the seventh on a Raul Siri two-run single and a Jared Oliva infield single, but it was the closest the Marauders would come.

Beeker (5-7) in his first start since returning from Double-A, was sharp from the start. The right-hander tossed 6.2 innings. He allowed three runs (two earned). Hector Lujan followed with 2.1 scoreless innings.

Gavin Wallace (3-4) suffered the loss after giving up eight runs on 10 hits in five innings. Wallace walked two and struck out three.

The Miracle go for the four-game sweep on Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
