Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - For Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong not even birthday wishes could help his team defeat the Mudbugs Saturday evening as Texas continues to have road woes, losing 6-1.
The first period seemed promising as both teams left the ice scoreless and Texas outshooting the Mudbugs 9-7. It was not until the second when the Brahmas and goaltender David Cacciola began to crumble when they let in two Bossier goals within 37 seconds from one another. Brett Smith and Kevin Cooper each registered a goal. The offensive fire power from the Mudbugs continued later in the same period but this time from Dale Lupul and Tyrel Lucas, putting Bossier up 4-0.
After a four goal deficit, Cacciola was done for the night and goalie Jim Healey came in relief for the third, but the Mudbugs scoring was not over. Karlis Zirnis scored an even strength goal within a minute of the faceoff. The only highlight of the night was a powerplay goal from forward Jordan Cameron in the third from Tyler Skworchinski and Eric Main at the 7:53 mark. Bossier's Lucas capped off the evening with his second in the game to put the 'Bugs up 6-1.
Texas was 1-9 on the powerplay and only recorded 22 shots on goal. The Brahmas will have one day to regroup before facing the Mudbugs again on New Year's Eve. The game will be the second time the Brahmas and Mudbugs will face one another at the NYTEX Sports Centre, the last time coming on October 27 when Texas defeated Bossier 4-3 in overtime. Faceoff will be at 6:05 PM and a New Year's Eve party will follow the game. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or log on to www.brahmas.com.
