Leavitt Named to 2008 CHL Southern Conference All-Star Squad

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League, announced today that forward Alex Leavitt will play for the Southern Conference in the 2008 CHL All-Star Game on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at the Broomfield Event Center in Broomfield, Colo.

The Edmonton, Alberta native currently leads the Sundogs in scoring with 43 points (15g/28a) in 21 games. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound forward is slated to join fellow Sundogs Tyler Redenbach and Sean Sullivan in the mid-season showcase. Redenbach and Sullivan were named as starters for the game but are currently on recall with the AHL's San Antonio Rampage.

All-star game starters were voted on by all 17 head coaches, communication staffs and local media in each market whereas the 12 Southern Conference reserves were selected by Sundogs Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro, as he will serve as coach for the Southern Conference squad.

Teams are allowed a maximum of three players each in the game.
