Bucks Win In Shootout 6-5: Win Fourth Straight Game

PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League beat the Arizona Sundogs 6-5 in a shootout Saturday night at Tim's Toyota Center. The Bucks, who trailed 5-3 late in the second period, won their fourth straight game and extend their Southern Conference point lead to six over the Sundogs (46 to 40).

Jeff Bes and Adam Rivet each scored two power-play goals for Laredo, who went four-for-nine with the man advantage.

In the shootout James Hiebert, Rane Carnegie, and Bes scored for the Bucks, with Carnegie's goal being the game-winner. It was the Laredo's first shootout win of the season (1-2).

Bes tied the game for the Bucks just 43 seconds into the third period, off of a slap shot from the right circle. Serge Dube picked up the assist.

Arizona took an early lead just 33 seconds into the game as Dan Laperriere sent a slap shot from the right point past Bucks goaltender Kevin Beech. The Sundogs took a 2-0 lead at the 1:13 mark of the period, when Mark Kolanos tipped in a slap shot from Jeff Winchester past Beech.

The Bucks got right back in the game at the 3:38 mark as James Hiebert scored his 15th goal of the season, as he tipped in a slap shot from Andrew Desjardins from the right circle.

Laredo tied the game up at 2-2 on the power-play with just one second left in the first period, as Adam Rivet sent a shot from the left point that slipped past Sundogs goalie Andrew Gallant. Jeff Bes and Hiebert picked up assists on the goal.

Laredo was outshot by the Sundogs in the opening 20 minutes 9-7.

Arizona (19-7-2) re-took the lead at the 3:42 mark of the second period as Alex Leavit took the puck from the right circle and sent a shot past Beech making it 3-2.

The Bucks tied the hockey game back up at 3-3 as Rivet scored his second power-play goal of the game. Rivet sent a rebound in from the left side of the crease past Gallant. Hiebert picked up the assist.

The Sundogs went back on top at 10:17 when Oliver Latendresse scored from the right circle making it 4-3. Laredo then pulled Beech and put in Dustin Traylen.

Arizona took a 5-3 lead at the 14:10 mark as Karl Sellan scored a power-play goal off of a rebound right in front of Traylen.

The Bucks (10-4-2 on the road) cut the Sundogs lead to 5-4 with a power-play goal with1:38 left in the second period. Bes scored his 17th-goal of the year from the slot off of a nice pass from Andrew Desjardins from the right corner. Hiebert also picked up the assist on Bes' goal.

The Bucks were outshot by the Sundogs in the period 15-13.

Laredo will fly home on Sunday before taking on Rio Grande Valley at the LEC on New Year's Eve. Game time will be 8pm.
