Boyd Kane named Hershey's captain for 2005-06

HERSHEY - The HERSHEY BEARS announced today that right wing Boyd Kane has been named team captain for 2005-06. The announcement was made by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst and the HERSHEY coaching staff.

Kane captained the Philadelphia Phantoms to a Calder Cup championship in 2004-05, and was signed by the Washington Capitals on August 12. He also has played in the American Hockey League with Springfield and Hartford.

"It's a huge honor to be named captain of the BEARS." Kane said. "Hopefully I can lead our team in the right direction and we'll have a great year."

Defensemen J.F. Fortin and Lawrence Nycholat will serve as assistant captains for all home games in 2005-06, while right wing Graham Mink and defenseman Mark Wotton will share the assistant captaincy for all road games this season. Defensemen Dean Arsene and Dwayne Zinger will be alternate assistants at home and on the road this season should one of the above be injured or recalled.

The BEARS travel to Rochester to face the Americans Friday night at 7:35 p.m., with airtime on 100.1 FM WQIC at 7:15 for the pre game show. HERSHEY returns home to face the Norfolk Admirals Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for Saturday's game and all HERSHEY home games may be purchased at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 508-BEAR.
