Peoria Rivermen News Release

Peoria, IL (October 12, 2005) - General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald of the Peoria Rivermen, proud new primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, announced today that Peoria has assigned center Konstantin Zakharov to the ECHL Alaska Aces, the primary affiliate squad of the Rivermen.

Zakharov, 20, did not see any action for the Rivermen in the first three games of this season. Last season, his first as a professional, he appeared in 59 games for the Worcester IceCats of the American Hockey League (AHL). Zakharov's totals for 2004-05 ended up at four goals, ten assists, and 26 penalty minutes. During the 2003 National Hockey League Entry Draft, the St. Louis Blues took the 6-1, 195-pound native of Minsk, Belarus, in the third round with the 101st overall choice.

The Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and will celebrate its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.
