LOWELL, Mass. - The Lowell Lock Monsters introduced their team captains this morning at a sponsor/media Coffee Club Meeting held at the Tsongas Arena. Paul Healey was introduced as the team captain and Colin Forbes and Craig Adams will serve as alternate captains for the 2005-06 season, which opens on Friday on home ice against the Manchester Monarchs.

Healey, 30, was assigned to the Lock Monsters from Colorado, who acquired him during the off-season. The Edmonton native split last season between San Antonio, where he was also the team captain, and Edmonton of the American Hockey League. Along with his NHL stints with Philadelphia, Toronto and the New York Rangers, Healey has suited up in 645 career AHL games, recording 425 points (212g-213a).

Returning Lock Monsters and Carolina assignees Forbes and Adams will wear an ‘A' on their jerseys. Forbes, 29, had a career year last season in Lowell, posting 27 goals and 64 points in 76 games. The former Philadelphia Flyers draft pick has appeared in over 300 games each in the NHL and AHL and finished third on the Lock Monsters in goals and points.

Adams returns to Lowell after the Hurricanes re-acquired him on October 3rd from the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. The 28-year old Calgary native was drafted by Hartford in 1996 and stayed with that organization until 2003-04, skating in 238 NHL games with Carolina, including two full seasons from 2002-04. Last season he played in Milan, Italy, and signed with Anaheim this summer. During the 2001-02 campaign, he played in 22 games with the Lock Monsters, ringing up nine points and 51 PIM.

"These three guys represent the veteran leadership of our club," said Head Coach Tom Rowe. "We feel that with their experience, especially at the NHL level, as well as their work habits at practice every day, that they are right guys to lead this club. They will have a major role in developing our team's identity and work ethic."

Only two days remain until Opening Night on October 14th against the Manchester Monarchs at the Tsongas Arena. Individual tickets are on sale now at the Tsongas Arena box office, which is open from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Full season, 20-game, mini-plans and Flex Packs are now on sale as well; contact the Lock Monsters ticket office at (978) 458-PUCK (7825) for remaining seat availability.
