Clinton LumberKings News Release
Clinton, IA - The Clinton LumberKings welcome Bowman, Pickney & Evans to Ashford University Field to light off the Fourth of July festivities. The trio from Clinton will play a free concert on July 3 at the Lumber Kings Picnic Garden area - while the LumberKings take on the River Bandits in Davenport.
In addition to the concert, members of the Clinton Area Rod Club will host a car show on Sixth Avenue North, adjacent to Ashford University Field. Along with the concert, admission is free to the car show.
Bowman, Pickney & Evans have been a staple in Clinton's entertainment for 33 years. The group started as an acoustic guitar harmony trio similar to Crosby, Stills and Nash.
Pickney is the lone member who still lives in Clinton as Bowman resides in Minneapolis and Evans makes his home in North Central Iowa. The group has been nominated for entry into the Iowa Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Gates open at 6:00 PM and the concert will start at 7:00. The car show will run from 6-8. Entry to the concert will be at the gate located near the Picnic Garden Area. Food and beverages will be available. No food or drink is allowed to be carried in.
The LumberKings will open a five-game home stand on the Fourth of July. They welcome the Burlington Bees for a 7:00 PM start. The Fourth of July festivities include the Regalia Manufacturing Patriotic Giveaway and the WQAD-TV Fireworks. Skydivers will make their way onto Ashford University Field at the start of the game.
