Borden Helps Power over Hagerstown

(Charleston, WV- August 4, 2014)- The West Virginia Power toppled the Hagerstown Suns in a series opener 5-2 at Appalachian Power Park on Monday evening. The Power posted a four-run sixth inning to pull away behind seven strong innings from Buddy Borden.

The Suns got on the board first in the fourth inning with a solo blast from Spencer Kieboom. West Virginia answered in the bottom half of the inning when an error plated Austin Meadows.

The Power would blow the game wide open in the sixth inning, plating four runs. West Virginia got things going when JaCoby Jones singled home Chris Diaz. Reese McGuire singled home another pair with the bases load followed by a run-scoring single by Erich Weiss.

Buddy Borden (6-7) earned the win, tossing seven innings, allowing just one run on two hits with four strikeouts. Andrew Cooper (7-4) was charged with the loss.
