
Mazara Promoted to AA Frisco

Hickory, NC - The Texas Rangers announced today that Hickory Crawdads OF Nomar Mazara has been promoted to the AA Frisco RoughRiders, becoming the ninth 'Dad this season to move up in the Rangers organization.
Mazara, 19, leaves Hickory amid a dominant season, ranking 2nd in the South Atlantic League in home runs (19) and walks (57), 4th in RBI (73), 6th in total bases (187), and 10th in slugging percentage (.470). Mazara also paced the Crawdads in extra-base hits (42) and tied for the team lead in doubles (21) while batting .264/.358/.470 in 106 games. The No. 10 prospect in the Rangers system according to MLB.com, Mazara also played on the record-breaking 2013 Crawdads team, hitting .236 with 13 homers, 23 doubles, and 62 RBI in 126 games.
Mazara ends his Crawdads career ranking among the top 10 all-time in several 'Dads statistics, including 4 th in RBI (135) and total bases (360), 5th in doubles (44) and walks (101), 7 th hits (212), at bats (851), and home runs (32), 8 th runs (116), and 9 th games played (232). Mazara also leaves with the 2nd most outfield assists in team history with 25, trailing only Magglio Ordonez's 26.
Replacing Mazara on the Crawdads active roster is INF Nick Urbanus, who had just left the Crawdads for the short-season Spokane Indians on July 30th. Urbanus, 22, was batting .186 (19-102) with five doubles and 9 RBI in 31 games played with the 'Dads this season. The Netherlands native also spent time in Hickory in 2013 and 2012, batting an accumulative .188 with 16 doubles and 26 RBI in 132 total games played.
Mazara joins fellow 2014 Crawdads Jose Monegro, Josh McElwee, Cody Kendall, Kevin Pucetas, Lewis Brinson, Nick Vickerson, Abel De Los Santos, and Kevin Torres as players who have moved up in the Rangers organization this season.
