Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

By virtue of a scintillating week in which he batted .520, Albuquerque Isotopes outfielder Joe Borchard has been named Pacific Coast League Batter of the Week for games beginning on August 20th and continuing through August 26th, the League announced today.

In 25 at-bats, the red-hot Borchard collected 13 hits, including a double and four home runs. The switch-hitter also scored nine times and drove in a whopping 14 in his seven games played during the week. Currently, Borchard boasts a 12-game hitting streak in which he's batting .478 (22x46). On August 24th, he blasted a season-high two homers against Memphis, one night after he drove in a season-high five against the Redbirds.

Borchard joins Scott Seabol as Isotopes hitters who have won the weekly accolade this season, with Seabol earning the honor on July 23-29. Pitchers Chris George and Rick Vanden Hurk have also won Pitcher of the Week recognition so far this year.
