ROUND ROCK - It's been nearly 20 years since he last played in a Triple-A ballpark, but on Friday, Aug. 31, Craig Biggio will be honored at one.

The Round Rock Express will honor the longtime Houston Astro with "Craig Biggio Tribute Night." Special "3,000th Hit" photos will be distributed to fans courtesy of the Austin American-Statesman and autographed Craig Biggio memorabilia will be randomly handed out to fans during the game against New Orleans.

The Railyard will offer a special Astros Biggio T-shirt for $7. Additionally the store will sell a brick red "3,000th Hit" T-shirt for $20. Special video tributes will be played throughout the night on The Dell Diamond's jumbotron.

Gates for Friday's game open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 512-255-2255 or by logging on to www.roundrockexpress.com.

Biggio's extensive career began in Single-A in 1987, where the New York native worked as a catcher for 64 games. The following season, Biggio batted .320 in 77 games for Triple-A Tucson before being called up to Houston.

He never returned to the minor leagues.

Biggio collected 26 hits over 50 games in his first major league season and went on to pile on the offense. He became just the ninth player in major league history to reach 3,000 hits with the same team earlier this season.

Biggio has played in 2,820 games and counting, all of them with the Houston Astros. He is also a minority owner of Ryan Sanders Baseball, of which the Round Rock Express is a part of.
