Boomers Rebound to Cruise Past Lake Erie

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - The Schaumburg Boomers rebounded from an extra-inning defeat to roll past the Lake Erie Crushers 11-4 on Saturday night.

Trailing 2-0 after a first inning two-run double from Lake Erie's Daniel Bowman, the Boomers took the lead with three runs in the second. Sean Mahley notched his second triple of the year to tie the contest and scored moments later. The Boomers never trailed the rest of the night, plating multiple runs in four different innings including the third. Gerard Hall finished with four hits while Steve McQuail drilled his eighth homer of the season in the fifth and also posted three hits. Mahley drove home three runs and appeared on the mound as well.

Mike Giovenco evened his record at 3-3 by throwing a season high 6.2 innings. The righty allowed four runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.

The Boomers (20-13) finish out the series on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. on a Family Day. LHP Danny Jimenez (1-3, 4.13) faces LHP Dave Middendorf (4-2, 2.70) for Lake Erie.
