Washington Wild Things News Release
Washington, PA- As the lights lit up the ball field at CONSOL ENERGY PARK, Texas native Shawn Blackwell's pitching performance was as bright as the strawberry moon.
Blackwell struck out five, walking one and only allowing three hits in the Wild Things second victory in as many games.
The sole run of the evening came on shortstop Shain Stoner's RBI single that scored speedy outfielder Darian Sandford, collecting his 17th RBI on the season.
Johnny Montoya earned his first save for the Washington, pitching a one-two-three top of the ninth.
Second baseman CJ Beatty went 2-3 on the evening and there were also two stellar defensive plays. With two outs, third baseman Jovan Rosa made a diving stop to protect Washington's lead and allowed Blackwell to capture his third win.
The Wild Things attempt the sweep of the River City Rascals Sunday. First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. and tickets can be purchased by stopping by the CONSOL ENERGY Park Box Office for tickets.
