Evansville Otters News Release

For the second straight day, one of the Evansville Otter players were signed by the New York Yankees organization.

Catcher/first baseman/outfielder Radley Haddad attended the Otters tryout on Monday and impressed the Evansville coaching staff. Listed as catcher #202, Haddad excelled behind the plate as well as at the plate.

A native of Carmel, Indiana, Haddad was on his way to Evansville on Friday to sign a contract with the Otters. On his way to Bosse Field, the phone rang and it was the New York Yankees on the other line. The American League offered the Otters tryout catcher a contract and he accepted.

"Radley had a great tryout for us, standing out among the other talented catchers," said Otters manager Andy McCauley. "We are happy for Radley and wish him the best in his baseball career."

The Otters have signed several players from their recent tryouts, including outfielder Greg Alexander, the team's all time runs batted in leader (148), and reliever Patrick Crider, an Owensboro native who has pitched in more games than any other Otter (133).

The Otters have a strong history of signing local talent, including starting pitcher Adam Champion. The 2006 North High School graduate was signed by the Otters in 2012, becoming the Otters' ace with a 8-5 record and a 3.06 earned run average last year.

The Otters are back in action on Saturday, June 22. Otters right-hander Bryce Morrow (4-1, 2.19 ERA) will throw against Frontier Greys pitcher Casey Delgado (0-0, 0.00 ERA). The first 1000 fans will receive an Otters hat and there will also be another spectacular fireworks extravaganza! Both are sponsored by Heritage Federal Credit Union. The game is scheduled to begin at historic Bosse Field at 6:35 pm CDT.

Fans can call the Evansville Otters Front Office at (812) 435-8686 to reserve your tickets today.
