CRESTWOOD, Ill. - The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, set a franchise record with a ninth straight win, rolling past the Windy City ThunderBolts 18-2.

The win streak matches the longest of the season in the Frontier League. A night after clinching a second straight playoff spot, the Boomers wasted no time in jumping on Windy City, scoring six first inning runs, all with two outs.

Ty Nelson drilled his second homer of the season, a grand slam over the wall in left, to open the scoring. Schaumburg has hit five grand slams this season. Michael Valadez added a two-run homer in the inning. Tony Delmonico hit a two-run homer in the sixth as the Boomers scored in each of the last five innings to equal a team record for runs in a game. Schaumburg has scored 18 runs in a game four times this year, all in the second half of the season. The Boomers drew a franchise record 14 walks in the game with six coming from Joe De Pinto, setting a team and Frontier League record. Eddie Cody worked 6.2 innings on the mound to improve to 7-1, striking out four. Cody took a shutout into the seventh.
