Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Toronto Blue Jays announced on Friday that they have optioned RHP Alek Manoah to the Bisons to make room for the first major league call up for Herd reliever, Hagen Danner.

Manoah returns to the Herd for the first time since the start of the 2021 season when he burst onto the scene in two starts in Trenton, NJ and one at Worcester for the Bisons. In those three starts, the hard-throwing former 1st rounder was 3-0 with a 0.50 ERA, striking out 27 and allowing just seven hits in 18.0 innings of work. Manoah was promptly elevated to the Major Leagues, having never appeared at Sahlen Field in a Bisons uniform.

Manoah did make three starts at Sahlen Field as a member of the Blue Jays during his 2022 All-Star Season and threw seven shutout innings on July 2nd against Tampa Bay for his first win in Buffalo. Overall, Manoah was 16-7 with a 2.24 ERA in 31 starts for the Blue Jays in 2022 after a rookie campaign that saw him go 9-2 with a 3.22 ERA in 2021.

This year, Manoah was the Blue Jays Opening Day Starter and is 3-9 with a 5.87 ERA in 19 starts.
