Rochester Red Wings News Release

The Rochester Red Wings fell to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs for the third-straight game Friday night, 6-1. SS Richie Martin logged his first extra base hit since 7/16 in the only multi-hit effort for the Wings, while RHP Amos Willingham worked Rochester's first scoreless outing since RHP Luis Reyes on 8/3.

After three scoreless innings to start Friday night's game, Lehigh Valley jumped on the board with a six-run top of the fourth. The IronPigs loaded the bases after a leadoff fly out, and 3B Esteban Quiroz drove in two runners with an RBI double. RF Cal Stevenson followed a walk that loaded the bases with a grand slam, Lehigh Valley's fourth grand slam of the season, extending the lead to 6-0.

Rochester broke through RHP Nick Nelson in the sixth inning, cutting the lead to 6-1 when DH Luis García grounded out to shortstop, scoring CF Cody Wilson. The IronPigs tacked on two final runs in the top of the ninth inning on an RBI double from C Max McDowell and a two-base error off the bat of 2B Kody Clemens. After the first two batters reached base to start the bottom of the ninth, a wild pitch from RHP Tyler McKay allowed 3B Carter Kieboom to score, cutting the deficit to 8-2. The Wings were unable to complete the comeback, falling in their third-straight game to the IronPigs.

RHP Wily Peralta (3-7, 6.30) started on the mound, working 3.2 innings, allowing six runs on four hits while striking out six and walking four, taking the loss. RHP Amos Willingham entered first out of the bullpen, working 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing a hit while striking out one. LHP Anthony Banda submitted three innings of relief, allowing an earned run on two hits while striking out two batters.

SS Richie Martin earned Friday night's Diamond Pro Player of the Game honors after going 2-for-3 with a double and a single in the Wings sole multi-hit effort. The righty collected his first two-hit game since 7/5, and smacked his first double since 7/15.

Rochester went 1-for-3 on ABS Challenges, while the IronPigs finished 1-for-1.

Rochester will look to snap the three-game skid tomorrow night against the IronPigs. RHP Jackson Rutledge is slated to start for the Wings, while RHP Shaun Anderson will take the mound for Lehigh Valley. First pitch is set for 6:45 p.m.
