Baker's First Inning Slam Sets Tone for Memphis Win at Durham

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds continued a six-game road trip with an 8-4 win over the Durham Bulls at Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Friday night.

In the first inning, designated hitter Luken Baker blasted a grand slam for his 33rd home run of the season. The Minor League Baseball leader in home runs in now three long balls away from tying the single-season Memphis Redbirds record.

Catcher Ivan Herrera clubbed a home run in the in the third inning, his ninth of the season. Memphis controlled the entire game with the help of the two-through-five hitters scoring all eight runs.

Starting pitcher Adam Kloffenstein (1-0) made his second start with Memphis this season. The right-handed pitcher tossed 5.0 innings, allowed two runs on three hits, walked four and struck out five batters to earn his first Triple-A win.

The Redbirds (56-56) return to AutoZone Park on Tuesday, August 15 to begin a six-game homestand at 2:05p.m. CDT against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.
