CLEVELAND - The AHL's defending Calder Cup Champions, the Cleveland Monsters, proudly powered by Constellation, announced Saturday that the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets recalled left wing Sonny Milano from his loan to Cleveland and assigned right wing Oliver Bjorkstrand to the Monsters late Friday night. In three appearances for Columbus this season, Bjorkstrand tallied four penalty minutes and a -2 rating and in two games played for the Monsters this year, Milano posted 1-0-1 with six penalty minutes and a -1 rating.

In three career NHL appearances for the Blue Jackets, all coming during the late stages of the 2015-16 NHL season, Milano, a 6'0", 199 lb. left-handed native of Massapequa, NY, supplied 0-1-1 with a +1 rating. Selected by Columbus in the first round (16th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Milano, 20, has 15-22-37 to his credit, with 28 penalty minutes and a +4 rating, in 66 career AHL appearances for the Springfield Falcons and the Monsters spanning parts of three seasons from 2014-16. Milano posted 4-4-8 with four penalty minutes and a +6 rating in 17 playoff appearances for Cleveland in 2016, helping the Monsters claim the Calder Cup for the first time in franchise history.

A 6'0", 175 lb. right-handed native of Herning, Denmark, Bjorkstrand, 21, was selected by the Blue Jackets in the third round (89th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and supplied 4-4-8 with four penalty minutes and a +4 rating in 15 career NHL appearances, all for Columbus, spanning the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons. In 51 AHL appearances for the Monsters last season, Bjorkstrand netted 17-12-29 with ten penalty minutes and an even rating. In 17 playoff appearances for Cleveland during the team's run to the AHL's 2016 Calder Cup Championship, Bjorkstrand was awarded the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as AHL Playoff MVP after supplying in 10-6-16 with two penalty minutes and a +9 rating. Bjorkstrand's six postseason game-winning goals in 2016 tied an AHL record and his three playoff overtime goals, including the Cup-clinching tally with 1.9 seconds remaining in the first overtime of Game Four of the Calder Cup Finals vs. the Hershey Bears, set a new AHL all-time mark.

Next up for the Monsters, it's a Saturday road clash vs. their Central Division rivals, the Grand Rapids Griffins, with full coverage, live from Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, MI, underway at 7:00 pm on 99X and the Monsters Hockey Network.
