SPRINGFIELD, MASS. -The St. John's IceCaps lost a 5-4 overtime heartbreaker to the Springfield Thunderbirds Saturday night at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass.
The IceCaps led 2-1 after the first, 3-1 after the second and 4-2 early in the third period before the Thunderbirds scored a pair to tie the contest and then capped the comeback at 1:42 of overtime on a MacKenzie Weegar goal.
Charles Hudon sniped a pair of powerplay goals to pace the IceCaps; Chris Terry collected a goal and three assists; Sven Andrighetto registered a goal and two helpers and Mark Barberio chipped in with two assists. Goaltender Yann Danis made his IceCaps debut in the loss.
