Stars Rally to Earn Point in Overtime

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Texas Stars rallied from a 4-1 deficit to force overtime and pick up a road point in a 6-5 overtime loss to the Ontario Reign on Friday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena in front of 7,861 in attendance.
Travis Morin knotted the game with just under eight minutes to play in the third after Cole Ully pulled the Stars (2-1-1-0) within one earlier in the frame. Jonny Brodzinski scored the overtime-winner for the Reign (2-0-0-0).
The Stars close out their three-game road trip Saturday in San Diego at 9 p.m. CST.
Ontario took their 4-1 stranglehold on the game in period one. Zach Leslie began the scoring with a power play goal at 3:44. Vincent LoVerde then netted a second goal for the Reign four minutes later. Matej Stransky answered back for Texas to make it a 2-1 deficit less than a minute later, but LoVerde responded right back with a shorthanded tally with seven minutes to play. TJ Hensick cashed in for another Ontario power play goal late in the frame off LoVerde's feed from the point.
The Texas power play responded in period two when Andrew Bodnarchuk drilled a one-timer goal from the right circle at 4:59 for his second of the season. Julius Honka snapped home his first of the year with seven minutes to play in the period from the center of the blue line to pull Texas within one, but the Reign added a late power play goal by Michael Mersch to make it a 5-3 score.
Ully batted in a rebound goal at 5:26 for his second of the season. Morin tipped in Bodnarchuk's point shot past Campbell for the game-tying goal and his first of the season.
Max Lagace suffered the loss with 25 saves. Jack Campbell earned the win stopping 30 of 35 for the Reign.
Texas finished 2-for-5 on the power play. Ontario went 3-for-6.
