ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (21-17-2) saw their frustrations continue after suffering a tough 2-1 loss to the Gwinnett Gladiators (18-17-5) on Tuesday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center, pushing their winless streak to five games.

The Everblades were able to get the scoring started in the contest between the South Division rivals just past the midpoint of the first period. Alex Imbeault added to his team-leading goal total when he slipped a back-hand shot from the top of the crease between the pads of Gladiators net-minder Chris Carrozzi at 12:20. Mathieu Roy and Phil Paquet picked up the assists on Imbeault's 20th goal of the season.

The score remained 1-0 through the second period, a period that saw the Everblades out shoot Gwinnett 16-11, but in the third period the Gladiators came out flying and after the dust settled, the Everblades were outshot 22-6 and Gwinnett notched a pair of goals.

The first of the goals for the Gladiators came early in the frame at 4:19 when former Everblade Drew Paris fired a shot from the top of the left circle that found its way through traffic and past goaltender Jaroslav Janus.

Gwinnett then took the lead with the eventual game-winner at 13:52 with a power play goal. After Janus made two big saves on Tom Zanoski from the top of the crease, Andy Brandt was able to swipe the loose puck inside the right post for his eighth goal of the season, giving Gwinnett the 2-1 lead.

In the closing seconds it looked like the Everblades might tie the game with goaltender pulled for an extra attacker, but a loose puck at the open left side of the Gladiator net hopped over the stick of Imbeault and rolled harmlessly to the corner.

In goal Janus played well, but suffered the tough luck loss to see his record fall to 8-9-0 despite stopping 39 of 41 shots. Carrozzi picked up the win to improve his record to 11-9-3 after stopping 32 of 31 shots.

On the power play, the Everblades closed out the game 0-of-4 while Gwinnett closed out the night 1-of-3.
