
Thunder All-Star Center Mark Arcobello Earns First AHL Call-Up

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks, announced rookie center Mark Arcobello (ARK-oh-bell-oh) has been recalled from the Thunder to the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League.
Arcobello, 22, will be available to make his AHL debut on Thursday, when Oklahoma City visits the Peoria Rivermen at 5:05 p.m.
Arcobello, who was assigned to the Thunder from Oklahoma City on Oct. 12, heads to the AHL with a four-game assist streak, also leading Thunder rookies in points (16), ranking second in goals (6) in 29 games and totaling eight penalty minutes.
The 5-foot-9, 165-pound forward suited up in 131 career games through four seasons (2006-10) in college with Yale University (NCAA), scored 116 points (49g-67a) and posted 203 penalty minutes. He finished over a point-per-game average in his final two seasons and was named second-team All-Ivy last season with a career-high 36 points (15g-21a) in 34 games as a 2009-10 senior.
The native of Milford, Conn. was named to the ECHL All-Star team last week, who will face the host Bakersfield Condors at the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic on Wednesday, Jan. 26 at Rabobank Arena.
The Thunder returns home for its next game tomorrow against Bakersfield, starting at 7:00 p.m. at Stockton Arena. The game can be heard on radio at 1280 AM KWSX and viewed live on the internet (pay-per-view video charge) at www.StocktonThunder.com, courtesy of AmericaOne.
