South Carolina's Ricci Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - South ‚¬Ë†Carolina Stingrays center Rob Ricci is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for January 3-9.

The 26 year old tallied seven goals and an assist and was +7 as the Stingrays went 4-0-0 last week to extend their unbeaten streak to seven games (6-0-1) and moved to within four points of first-place Greenville in the South Division.

Ricci opened the week with a hat trick in a 4-1 win against Gwinnett on Tuesday and then scored two goals in a 3-2 victory over Trenton on ‚¬Ë†Friday. He scored once in a 3-2 win against the Devils on ‚¬Ë†Saturday and closed the week with a goal and an assist against Trenton on ‚¬Ë†Sunday as the Stingrays captured a 5-2 win.

A native of Brampton, Ontario, Ricci leads the Stingrays with 17 goals and 31 points in 37 games this season. He has 83 points (42g-41a) in 113 career regular-season games with ‚¬Ë†Las Vegas and South Carolina and has two goals in 11 Kelly Cup Playoffs games with the ‚¬Ë†Stingrays.

On behalf of Rob Ricci a case of pucks will be donated to a South Carolina youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 23,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.

Runners Up: Tim Miller, Gwinnett (4gp, 5g, 2a, 7 pts) and Joey Haddad, ‚¬Ë†Wheeling (2gp, 3g, 3a, 6 pts).
