Blades Drop Crucial Game To Bandits

Four different Bandits have scored as the Jackson Bandits defeated the Arkansas RiverBlades 4-1 Friday night in Jackson, dropping Arkansas to fourth place in the Southwest Division.

Darryl Laplante got his 8th of the season at the 3:30 mark of the first period, assisted by Sean Gillam and Brent Gauvreau to give Jackson the lead.

Then, in the second, Jeff Bes deflected a backhander off of Garry Toor that got in behind goaltender Scott Fankhouser for a 2-0 lead.

Bryan Forslund struck next, notching his 13th of the year from Darryl Laplante at 14:10 to extend the lead to 3-0.

Then, near the end of the period, Scott Kelman scored a power-play goal, his 13th of the year, assisted by Nick Theriault and John McNabb.

Mike Cirillo got Arkansas on the board at 3:27 of the third, assisted by Dean Stock and Garry Toor, to set the final.

Jackson outshot Arkansas 26-16, and the Bandits scored on their only power-play chance. The RiverBlades are 0-for-1 on the man advantage.

The RiverBlades return to the Alltel Arena tomorrow night, hosting the Louisiana IceGators on Fan Appreciation Night. Faceoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
