Blades Come Home with Point in 2-1 Loss to ICE

December 31, 2022 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release

POINT FOR THE ROAD: The Saskatoon Bladestied the game in the third period, but fell short 2-1 in overtime vs the Winnipeg ICE at Wayne Fleming Arena. Forward Vaughn Watterodt remained hot with the Blades lone goal, his 13th in his last 16 games. It's a tough loss standings-wise for the Blue and Gold, but they still sport a stellar 25-6-1-0 record, good for third in the Eastern Conference.

STONE COLD ELLIOTT: A large credit for the point can be credited to rookie netminder Austin Elliott. He stopped 26 of 28 shots, including some ten-bell saves for the highlight reels.

NEXT GAME: The Blades kickoff 2023 at home Tuesday Jan. 3. as they welcome the Calgary Hitmen.

Puck drop is 7:00 pm.
