
WORLD JUNIORS: Bedard Ties Lindros Points Record, Svozil & Czechia Finish First

Halifax, N.S - Connor Bedard and Stanislav Svozil were in action on the final day of round robin play at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship, with Bedard and Canada defeating Sweden 5-1 and Svozil and Czechia winning 8-1 over Germany.

Connor Bedard tallied four assists giving him 18 points (6G-12A) in four games at the 2023 World Juniors which tied Dale McCourt & Brayden Schenn for most by a Canadian at a single World Juniors. He also tied Eric Lindros for the most career points by a Canadian at the World Juniors with 31.
Canada got off to a great start, as Bedard tallied three assists on Canada's first three goals to take a 3-0 lead as he grabbed a primary assist on Joshua Roy's opening goal, and secondary assists Brennan Othmann and Tyson Hinds goals.
Sweden would score a late power play goal, as it was 3-1 after one. After there was no scoring in the second period, Canada would extend their lead to 4-1 in the final frame, as Othmann picked up his second of the game.
Bedard then tied Eric Lindros for the Canadian World Junior' record for career points with 31 after fourth assist of the game, grabbing a primary assist on Kevin Korchinski's first of the tournament to make it 5-1 Canada.
The final shots were 45-21 for Canada. They finish the round robin 3-1 with nine points, good for second in Group A. Victor Stjernborg was named player of the game for Sweden while Connor Bedard was named player of the game for Canada.

Stanislav Svozil assisted the games first goal to give Czechia the 1-0 lead. He finished the night with one assist, giving him six points (1G-5A) in four round robin games, as Czechia finished first in Group A with 10 points, one ahead of Canada and two on Sweden.
Martin Rysavy (1G-2A), Jaroslav Chmelar (2G-1A), Jakub Brabenec (3A) and Gabriel Szturc (1G-2A) led the scoring with three points each while Tomas Suchanek made 18 saves in the win. The shots were 54-19 for Czechia.
