TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Charlotte Knights in the first game of a four-game series at Knights Stadium (7:15 p.m.). The Herd is coming off a four-game series split with the Gwinnett Braves. After the four-game series with Charlotte, Buffalo will return home for a two-game set against the Syracuse Chiefs starting on June 29.
vs. KNIGHTS: Tonight's game starts the Charlotte-portion of the eight-game season series between the Bisons and the Knights. The Herd took three of the four games at Coca-Cola Field, May 18-21. However, The Bisons have won just one series at Knights Stadium in the last 11 seasons (2005). Since the Bisons return to the IL in 1998, the Herd is 48-52 (.480) against the Knights.
PADILLA POWER: OF JORGE PADILLA hit his second home run in three games last night. The outfielder has averaged .292 (7-24) in his first six games with Buffalo. Padilla has chipped in a double, two home runs and five RBI since joining the Herd on June 19.
TO DUDA LIST: OF LUCAS DUDA singled in four trips last night to improve his hit streak to five games. Duda has also now hit in all but one of his nine games with the Bisons. Duda was promoted on June 13 after hitting .286 in 45 games with Double-A Binghamton.
ROSTER MOVES: C JEAN LUC BLAQUIERE has rejoined the Bisons for tonight's game in Charlotte. Blaquiere played two games in his first stint with Buffalo, May 11-16. Blaquiere hit two doubles in his Triple-A debut May 11 followed by a two-homer game on May 13 against Louisville. Blaquiere fills the void as the Mets recalled C JOSH THOLE just prior to last night's game.
LEFTY MIKE: LHP MIKE O'CONNOR worked a season-high three innings in relief last night against Gwinnett. The lefty allowed just an unearned run with four strikeouts. O'Connor has now given up just six hits while striking out 11 batters in his last 9.2 innings of work. On the season, O'Connor has retired the first batter he's faced in 21 of his 26 outings (81%) and has only allowed five of 21 inherited runners to score (24%).
METS UPDATE: The Mets (41-31) lost last night to the Detroit Tigers 6-5, but took the three-game series with victories on Tuesday and Wednesday night. Former Bison OF JESUS FELICIANO went 3-5 with a double and two runs. INF DAVID WRIGHT went 2-5 with an RBI double. The Mets will continue their six-game homestand tonight hosting the Minnesota Twins (7:10 p.m.).
