Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons host the Norfolk Tides in the second game of a four-game series from Coca-Cola Field (6:05 p.m.). The Bisons lost in the series opener, 3-0, last night. The Herd has now dropped back-to-back games after winning five straight. At 12-6, the Bisons still hold the best record in the International League.
vs. the Tides
The Bisons were 5-3 against the Tides last season. The two teams split the four games at Coca-Cola Field last August. Buffalo's .601 winning pct. (92-61) against Norfolk is their best modern era (since 1985) mark against any current team in the International League.
Randy Wolf
LHP RANDY WOLF is a perfect 3-0 through his first three starts with the Bisons. The veteran worked a season-best six innings and struck out five in last Wednesday's 8-3 win in Pawtucket. On the season, Wolf has allowed just one hit (1-13, .077) with runners in scoring position. Wolf posted a 4.20 ERA in six games with the Tides last season (15.0IP).
Roster Move
The Blue Jays will select the contract of Bisons INF JONATHAN DIAZ. In his last nine games, Diaz has hit .231 (6-26) with two doubles and a .394 on-base pct. The Blue Jays also announced today they have placed SS Jose Reyes on the disabled list.
Andy Burns
INF ANDY BURNS has collected multiple hits in three of his last four contests. The Triple-A rookie has hit .444 (8-18) over a four-game hit streak with a double, two RBI and two runs. In his first eight games with the Bisons, Burns has hit .364 (12-33) with a .400 on-base pct.
Bullpen Notes
RHP PRESTON GUILMET struck out four of the six batters he faced last night. The righty has allowed just one run in 10.1 innings for a 0.87 ERA...RHP RYAN TEPERA has virtually the same numbers as Guilmet, with a 0.87 ERA and eight strikeouts in 10.1 innings...RHP STEVE DELABAR has thrown shutout baseball in five of his first six appearances this year (6.1 IP).
Walk this Way
The Bisons have thrown the 2nd-fewest base on balls (42) while also drawing the most free passes (77) in the International League. Because of this, the Herd leads the IL with a .353 on-base pct. while posting an impressive 1.08 team WHIP.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (9-11) lost their fourth straight, 6-5 to the Red Sox on Monday. 2B Devon Travis had two hits, including his sixth home run already this season. Toronto takes on Boston again tonight at 6:10 p.m. from Fenway.
