Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons take on the Syracuse Chiefs in the second game of a four-game series at NBT Bank Stadium (7:05 p.m.). The Herd saw its five game winning streak snapped at the hands of the Chiefs last night. Buffalo rallied from down five, but Syracuse scored a late run to seal their victory. The Bisons head home after this series for a three-game set against Pawtucket staring on Friday.

The Bisons are 7-3 against the Chiefs this year. Buffalo has outscored the Chiefs 48-33 in 10 games this season. The Herd (11-8) is currently tied with the Red Wings (11-8) for first place in the Thruway Cup standings. The Chiefs (8-14) are 4.0 games back of Buffalo and Rochester.
Jeff Francis
LHP JEFF FRANCIS will make his 8th start of the season for the Herd. The lefty allowed one hit and struck out three in 2.0 scoreless innings of relief on July 7 against Rochester. Francis was part of Team Canada in the Pan-American Games and has not started for the Bisons since July 2. The southpaw has not allowed more than two earned runs in any of his starts with the Bisons this season.
MattVP
INF MATT HAGUE is having his most productive month as a Bison. In 24 games in July, the infielder is batting .381 with six doubles, four home runs, 22 RBI, and an on-base percentage of .459. Overall, Hague leads the IL in average (.349), hits (134), RBI (70), and OBP (.431). The slugger has not gone more than two games without collecting at least one base-hit.
Dalton Pompey
OF DALTON POMPEY is batting .422 since returning to the Bisons lineup on July 17. The outfielder has collected six extra-base hits, scored 13 runs, driven in five RBI, walked 10 times, and has an OBP of .527. Pompey's 12-game hit streak is the longest current active streak in the IL and second longest of the year for the Bisons.
Roster Moves
RHP PHILLIPPE AUMONT has been activated to the Bisons after being signed by the Blue Jays as a free agent. Aumont was 3-4 with a 2.35 ERA in 14 games and 10 starts for Lehigh Valley this season. He struck out 58 in only 65.0 innings of work...Toronto traded RHP MIGUEL CASTRO to the Rockies as part of a deal to acquire SS Troy Tulowitzki.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (50-50) enjoyed an off day last night after a six-game West Coast road trip. Toronto is currently 7.0 games back of the Yankees for first place in the AL East. The Blue Jays open up a 9-game home stand tonight against the Philadelphia Phillies at Rogers Centre (7:07 p.m.).
