TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Rochester Red Wings in the first game of a two-game series at Frontier Field (7:05 p.m.). Tonight's game starts the final roadtrip of the season for the Herd. The Bisons will also visit Lehigh Valley, September 1-3. Buffalo is coming off its final homestand of 2012 as the club went 2-8 against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Rochester.

THRUWAY CUP: At 17-13, the Bisons lead over the Syracuse Chiefs (16-13) in the 2012 Thruway Series is just a half a game. The Red Wings (10-17) are in third place. The final five days of the regular season are all Thruway Cup games as the Red Wings host the Bisons for two before Rochester plays a three-game series against the Chiefs.

FAMILIA: RHP JEURYS FAMILIA will make his International League-leading 28th start of the season tonight. The righty is coming off a loss last Friday against the Yankees despite seven strikeouts and no walks. Familia allowed five runs in six innings of a 6-4 Yanks win. Familia leads the Bisons with eight wins and 119 strikeouts. The total is the 6th most for a Herd hurler in the modern era, one behind fifth-place RHP Randy Kramer (120 in 1988).

50-50: LHP JUSTIN HAMPSON is the first pitcher in the Bisons modern era to appear in 50 games in two different seasons with the club. The southpaw pitched in 52 games last year and was 3-3 with a 3.41ERA and one save. His 50th appearance on Tuesday night gave him 102 outings with Buffalo, third most in the modern era behind only RHP Scott Medvin (106) and teammate RHP Fernando Cabrera (134). Hampson 4-3 with a 2.37ERA this season.

MVP: OF FRED LEWIS was named the Bisons 2012 Stan Barron Most Valuable Player on Tuesday night. Lewis leads the club with a .292 average, 25 doubles, 7 triples, 44 extra-base hits, a .475 slugging percentage, 24 stolen bases and 76 runs scored. He brings a personal season-best eight-game hit streak into tonight's game, during which he has hit .379 (11-29).

STREAKS: INF MATT TUIASOSOPO homered on Tuesday to extend his hit streak to seven games (.385, 10-26)...INF ZACH LUTZ has hit in five straight games with a .444 (8-18) average during the streak.

METS UPDATE : The Mets (60-69) won their fourth straight game with a 3-2 victory over the rival Phillies. Former Bisons RHP MATT HARVEY picked up his third big league win with 6.1 innings of two-run ball. He also had an RBI-single. The Mets will look for the three-game sweep over the Phillies this afternoon at 1:05 p.m.
