The PawSox swept a doubleheader in Georgia on Thursday night, beating Gwinnett 1-0 and 3-2. Coupled with Lehigh Valleys' 5-0 loss to Scranton, Pawtucket has a three game lead in the Wild Card hunt with just four games remaining on the 2012 regular season schedule.

In the opener, Billy Buckner threw a complete game, 4 hit shutout. Buckner (8-6) is 7-1 in his last eight decisions. The PawSox scored the only run of the game on a sacrifice fly off the bat of newcomer Jeremy Hazelbaker. Ivan DeJesus and Mike Rivera had two hits each for the PawSox.

In the nightcap, Gwinnett scored an unearned run against Tony Pena in the third, the only run Pena allowed. Pena worked 4 innings, pitching well. Jose de la Torre (2-0) was the winner with two scoreless innings of relief. Chris Carpenter pitched the seventh for his fourth save in four tries. The PawSox answered in the fifth inning, scoring twice. Ryan Dent laid down a sacrifice bunt allowing Nate Spears and Dan Butler to score on a throwing error by losing pitcher Julio Tehran (7-9). In the seventh, Dent doubled in the eventual game winner. The PawSox finished the road portion of their schedule with a 38-34 record.

The Sox will finish up the 2012 campaign at home against the North Division Champion, Scranton Wilkes Barre Yankees. Game one of the four game set is scheduled for Friday at 7:05 p.m. at McCoy. The PawSox enter the series as the hottest team in the league, winners of six in a row.
