Knights Make Four Roster Moves Thursday

(Fort Mill, SC) - Earlier today, the Chicago White Sox announced a flurry of moves affecting the roster of the International League South Division Champion Charlotte Knights. The White Sox purchased the contract of catcher Hector Gimenez and infielder Jose Lopez from the Knights and promoted RHP Andre Rienzo and first baseman Seth Loman to Charlotte from Double-A Birmingham.
Loman, 26, was hitting .276 with 16 home runs and 58 RBIs for the Barons in 115 games this season. During the month of August, Loman posted a .319 average for the Barons with three home runs and 12 RBIs. He was hitting .324 with seven home runs and 29 RBIs during the second half of the season (54 games).
Rienzo, 24, began the season with Single-A Winston-Salem and went 3-0 with a 1.08 ERA in four starts for the Dash. The Brazilian native was promoted to Birmingham on June 14 and posted a 4-3 record with a 3.27 ERA in 13 starts. He struck-out 72 batters over 71.2 innings pitched.
Gimenez, 29, was hitting .259 with 14 home runs and 57 RBIs for the Knights in 99 games. The switch-hitting catcher had 25 multi-hit games and scored 50 runs. Gimenez has appeared in six Major League games with Houston (2006) and the Los Angeles Dodgers (2011).
Lopez, 28, was hitting .306 with one home run and 10 RBIs for the Knights in 13 games. On August 14, the White Sox signed Lopez as a free agent and assigned him to Charlotte. Over nine Major League seasons, Lopez holds a career batting average of .262 with 92 home runs and 480 RBIs. A 2006 American League All-Star while with Seattle, Lopez has 1,000 Major League hits.
With the promotion of both Gimenez and Lopez, the Knights have now promoted 17 players to Chicago this season. Below is the list of players that have been promoted, along with the date that they were promoted.
