Today's Game

This afternoon, the Bisons take on the Pawtucket Red Sox in the final game of a three-game series at McCoy Stadium (1:05 p.m.). The Herd is looking for the sweep after wins of 2-1 and 6-0. The Bisons have won four straight and seven of eight dating back to July 18. Buffalo is now 2.5 games back of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in the IL North division.

vs. the Red Sox

The Bisons are 6-2 against the Red Sox this year, including a 4-1 record at McCoy Stadium. Buffalo has allowed just 15 runs in those eight games and only six in the last seven contests. Today, the Bisons are looking for their first sweep of at least three games at McCoy since winning four there, August 16-19, 2004.

Andrew Albers

LHP ANDREW ALBERS will make his 13th start of the season today and his first appearance since July 3. The southpaw spent a bulk of that time helping Team Canada win Gold at the PanAm games in Toronto this month. In two starts against Pawtucket this year, Albers has a 0.73 ERA, including coming three outs away from a no-hitter in the first game of a doubleheader, August 21 at McCoy Stadium.

MattVP

INF MATT HAGUE'S 14th multi-hit game this month only helped him maintain his IL-best batting average of .350. He now has 131 hits on the season, 21 more than any other hitter in the league. With 43 games to go, Hague is now only 50 hits away from the Bisons' modern era single season record of 181 set by INF Jhonny Peralta in 2004.

Dalton Pompey

Last night, OF DALTON POMPEY had the Bisons' first five-hit game since DH Luis Jimenez on April 18, 2013 in Syracuse. Pompey was a homer shy of the cycle and drove in two runs. Since his return to the Bisons on July 17, Pompey has hit .432 (16-37) with a .523 on-base pct. and nine runs scored in nine games.

Bisons Bits

After last night's start, LHP RANDY WOLF is just four innings shy or reaching season-ending qualification. His 2.57 ERA is 2nd-best in the IL...The Bisons are 38-6 when scoring first for a .864 winning pct. that is 104 points better than the next closest team (Indy, .760)...INF MATT HAGUE has reached base in 38 consecutive road games, dating back to May 5 in Durham (.355 average, .444 on-base pct.).

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (50-49) rallied to defeat the Mariners, 8-6, on Saturday. Former Bison Ezequiel Carrera hit a pinch-hit homer in the eighth and Chris Colabello hit a two-run single in the ninth. Toronto takes on Seattle again this afternoon at 4:10 p.m. Eastern.
