Allentown, PA (July 26, 2015) - The Syracuse Chiefs beat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 5-4, in 13 innings Sunday afternoon at Coca-Cola Park. Jason Martinson hit a solo home run in the 13th inning off Dalier Hinojosa to lift the Chiefs to the win. P.J. Walters threw four-outstanding innings out of the bullpen to keep the game time.

Syracuse (40-63) started the scoring in the top of the first inning. Tony Gwynn, Jr. singled with one out against Jason Berken. Werth followed with an RBI double to right-center field to give the Chiefs the early 1-0 lead.

Lehigh Valley (46-56) squared the game in the bottom of the frame. Tyler Henson singled off Bruce Billings, and advanced to second and then to third on two wild pitches. After two pop outs and a walk, Cord Phelps doubled to bring home Henson and tie the score.

The IronPigs took their first lead in the second. KC Serna singled, was sacrificed to second, and scored on Henson's single for a 2-1 lead.

The Chiefs took the lead back in the third. Caleb Ramsey walked to lead off the frame, followed by Gwynn, Jr.'s second hit of the game to put runners on the corners. Werth then picked up his second RBI, a sacrifice fly to center field to tie the score. After a pop out and walk, Lisson singled home Gwynn, Jr. to give the Chiefs a 3-2 lead.

Syracuse took a 4-2 lead in the sixth. Lisson hit his second home run as a Chief, just clearing the center-field wall.

The IronPigs again tied this back-and-fourth affair in the seventh. Serna reached on an error by Lisson at third against Chiefs reliever Matt Grace. Chase d'Arnaud then hit a pinch-hit single to put runners on first and third. After a pop out, Brian Bogusevic hit a ground ball to third base. Lisson made a backhand play, and cut down Serna trying to score from third to hold the lead for the moment. Lehigh Valley then successfully executed a double steal of second and third, and Aaron Altherr brought home both runs to tie the game at four.

The game stayed tied to extras. The key point in the game came with the potential winning run on third base and one out in the 12 inning. P.J. Walters struck out Brian Bogusevic and Aaron Altherr to keep the game tied. Walters struck out eight batters in his four shut-out inning.

The Chiefs took the lead for good in the 13th. Martinson hit a solo-home run with one out over the left field wall to give the Chiefs the lead. It was Martinson's 17th home run of the season.

Syracuse returns home Monday to open a four-game series against Buffalo at 7:05 p.m. Richard Bleier is scheduled to start for the Chiefs opposite Daniel Norris for the Bisons.
