Today's Game

This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in the finale of a two game series at PNC Field in Moosic, PA. The RailRiders won both meetings in Downtown Buffalo on the front end of the home-and-home series that spans each end of the 4th of July holiday. After a quick two days on the road, the Herd returns home to face Syracuse July 6-8 before the three-day All-Star break.

Last Game: BUF 2, SWB 4

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre has won each of the first three games of the series against the Bisons. INF Richard Urena collected a two-run home run off of RHP Masahiro Tanaka in the top of the first inning, but that would be the only runs scored by Buffalo on the night. The RailRiders scored all four of their runs in the seventh frame. LHP Matt Tracy's Bisons' debut lasted six innings, giving up one hit, a walk and he struck out three.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (4-5)

The Bisons and RailRiders will meet came a total of 16 times this season, with four more meetings coming at PNC Field, including this afternoon. Buffalo will travel to Moosic once more this season August 3-5, while the RailRiders will return to Coca-Cola Field Aug. 21-23, which is the last homestand of the year for the Herd.

Today's Starter: RHP Nick Tepesch

RHP Nick Tepesch is making his fifth start, and seventh overall appearance for the Bisons in 2018. The righty will be making his fifth straight start after appearing out of the bullpen twice for Buffalo. Tepesch is still in search of his first Triple-A win of 2018, after collecting a W with New Hampshire over ten appearances. Tepesch has made twelve starts in 2018 between Buffalo and the Fisher Cats.

Richard Urena

INF Richard Urena hit his second home run of the season, coming in the top of the first inning off of Masahiro Tanaka. Urena also pounded out a single in the sixth inning to record a multi-hit performance for the Herd.

Roemon Fields

OF Roemon Fields extended his hitting streak to a season-high ten games with a base hit on Tuesday. Fields has gone 12-39 (.308) over this stretch, increasing his batting average by 13 points. Fields is hitting 29 points higher since his average dipped to .221 on 5/31.

Transactions

On Wednesday the Bisons announced a host of roster moves, with a pair of pitchers being recalled by the Blue Jays. RHPs Luis Santos and Rhiner Cruz had their contracts selected by Toronto, while RHP Jon Harris was returned to New Hampshire (AA). INF Gio Urshela was outrighted to Buffalo, while LHP Tim Mayza joined the Herd as well. In addition, 1B Rowdy Tellez was placed on the Temporary Inactive list.

Bisons' Bits

The Herd finished June 12-17 after going 18-12 in the month of May...OF Roemon Fields sits alone in third place in the Modern Era with 60 career stolen bases. He trails Dave Roberts (97) and Greg Tubbs (67)...The Bisons have lost three times in less than a week after scoring first.

Blue Jays Update

Toronto (40-46) dropped the second game of their two-game series against the New York Mets 6-3. Both C Russell Martin and DH Kendrys Morales had three hits in the losing effort. The Blue Jays have an off day today, while welcoming the New York Yankees on Friday for a three-day weekend series at Rogers Centre. The Jays have another scheduled off day on Monday, before heading to Atlanta.
