PawSox, Red Wings Suspended Due to Field Conditions

July 5, 2018 - International League (IL1)
Pawtucket Red Sox News Release

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Pawtucket Red Sox and Rochester Red Wings had their scheduled series finale suspended Thursday night due to unplayable field conditions at Frontier Field.

After a scoreless top half of the first inning, rain poured down onto the diamond right before the start of the bottom of the first inning. Rain fell in the Rochester area earlier in the afternoon as well.

The game will be continued when the PawSox return to Rochester on August 21. The continuation of that nine-inning game will begin at 5:05 PM, and a seven-inning game will then follow later that day to complete the doubleheader.

Following the shortened home-and-home series with Rochester, the PawSox now head home to McCoy Stadium to close out the first half of the season against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (New York Yankees) - beginning Friday at 7:05 p.m. The game will be televised live on Spectrum 3, and radio coverage on WHJJ (920 AM and 104.7 FM) and throughout the PawSox Radio Network begins with the pre-game show at 6:35 p.m.

The three-game series at McCoy Stadium will continue Saturday at 6:15 p.m. and conclude Sunday at 1:35 p.m. Good tickets are available, and fans can visit the McCoy Stadium box office, which is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m., and during all home games. Fans can also call (401) 724-7300 or log on to PawSox.com for tickets.
