Buffalo Bisons News Release
BUFFALO, NY - For the third straight day the Lehigh Valley IronPigs were able to solve the Buffalo Bisons pitching staff, topping the Bisons 11-2 on Friday night at Sahlen Field.
For the second straight night the IronPigs jumped out to a lead in the top of the first inning. Kody Clemens led off the game with a double and stole third on the first pitch to Cody Wilson. Wilson drove in the game's first run with an RBI groundout for a 1-0 Lehigh Valley lead through a half inning.
Lehigh Valley added five runs in the top of the third against Wes Parsons. Weston Wilson clubbed his 30th home run of the season to extend the lead to 3-0. The home run also set a new single season home run record for Lehigh Valley, breaking the tie with Rhys Hoskins. Aramis Garcia added an RBI base hit, while Jim Haley's two-out two-run double capped the scoring in the third for a 6-0 lead.
The Bisons were able to get on the scoreboard and cut into the deficit with a run in the bottom of the fifth. Cameron Eden led off the inning with a base hit against Michael Plassmeyer and advanced to second on a walk to Steward Berroa. Eden used his speed to score from third base on a wild pitch by Plassmeyer and cut the score to 6-1 in favor of Lehigh Valley.
The IronPigs scored the run right back in the next inning, to balloon the lead back to six runs. Scott Kingery's lead off double set the table for Wilson's fourth RBI of the game and a 7-1 Lehigh Valley advantage. Hayden Juenger used a double play to end the inning and keep the Bisons within six.
The Herd tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh but could only plate one run to trim the deficit to 7-2. Tanner Morris started the inning with a walk and eventually scored on a Luis De Los Santos base hit. It was the second straight inning with a hit for De Los Santos, as well.
Lehigh Valley would tack on four more runs in the top of the ninth, thanks in part to Wilson's second two-run home run of the game. Cal Stevenson and Haley each collected RBIs in the four-run frame to finish the scoring at 11-2.
The Bisons and IronPigs will meet on Saturday for the fifth game of their six-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. in downtown Buffalo.
