Hens' Bats Quiet in Shutout Loss

Toledo Mud Hens News Release
The Toledo Mud Hens were shut out by the Indianapolis Indians 2-0 on Friday night.
Despite being held off the board offensively, the Hens pitching staff put up an excellent performance. Keider Montero started the game for the Hens and gave up just two runs on four hits in 6.0 innings, with four walks and eight strikeouts. Despite the quality start from Montero, he ended up credited with the loss, and is now 3-2 for the Mud Hens this year.
Garrett Hill came in to relieve Montero and pitched the seventh and eighth innings. In his 2.0 innings of work, Hill allowed just one hit and walked none while striking out four batters.
The pitching staff as a whole allowed just five hits, which is the same number of hits the Mud Hens had on offense. However, the Mud Hens were unable to string hits together tonight and were held off the board. One of those hits was a single in the seventh inning off the bat of Justice Bigbie, his first AAA hit. A 19th round draft pick in 2021, Bigbie batted .333 in 37 games with the Whitecaps and .362 in 63 games for the Seawolves this year before receiving the call up to the Mud Hens earlier this week.
The Hens looked like they might break the tie after Eddys Leonard led off the top of the ninth inning with a double, but was left stranded. Toledo and Indy will face off again tomorrow night at 6:35 in Indianapolis.
Notables:
Keider Montero: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 8 K
Garrett Hill: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K
Eddys Leonard: 1-4, 2B
Ryan Kreidler: 1-4, 2B
Nick Solak: 1-2, BB
