Bisons Club Seven Home Runs in 8-1 Win in Charlotte

Hitting is contagious... and so is hitting home runs, apparently.
The Bisons matched a modern era team record by launching seven home runs out of BB&T Ballpark Tuesday night in an 8-1 triumph over the Charlotte Knights.
The homering Herd wasted little time in this one. Bo Bichette smashed the fourth pitch of the game out to left field just to the fair-side of the foul pole. It was the eighth home run of the year for the Blue Jays top prospect.
The seventh pitch of the contest had an equal fate. Socrates Brito completed the back-to-back with his 11th of the year, this one a straight away shot over the 400 ft. sign in center.
Four batters later... you guessed it. Jonathan Davis followed a four-pitch walk by Rowdy Tellez with yet another first-inning blast. The only one of the Bisons' seven home runs that wasn't a solo shot went out to left-center and gave Buffalo the 4-0 edge.
The Bisons kept the foot on the pedal as all seven of the homers were hit by the fifth inning. Rowdy Tellez sent a ball out to right-center in third and Jonathan Davis clubbed his second of the game in the fourth. Not to be out down, Brito and Tellez added solo shots in the fifth to make it a trio of Bisons' players with multi-home run games.
Tuesday marks only the third time in the modern era the Bisons team struck for seven homers in a game and the first July 2, 2004. Coincidentally, that game also feature three multi-homer performances by Jhonny Peralta, Eric Crozier and Sandy Martinez. Brent Abernathy also went deep in a 16-2 thumping of Syracuse.
The Bisons also hit seven home runs as a team on May 1, 1999 in a 15-0 win in Pawtucket.
All that offense went to the benefit of Thomas Pannone, who surrendered a run on three hits in 5.2 innings to improve to 1-0 on the year. Zach Jackson, Kirby Snead and Ty Tice went the rest of the way, providing a combined 3.1 innings of two-hit relief.
In the seventh inning, Brito hit a soft fly ball that dropped into centerfield. Not only did it give the slugger a three-hit day, it was the Bisons' only hit of the game that wasn't a home run.
