Montgomery Biscuits News Release

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Austin Pruitt picked up his first win since April as the Biscuits (24-26) climbed within two games of .500 with a 5-3 win over the Jacksonville Suns (19-31) Monday night at the Baseball Grounds. The win is the Biscuits fourth in five games on their 11-day road trip.

Pruitt (3-4), despite allowing nine hits, only surrendered one run through six innings of work with five strikeouts and one walk. The Suns managed lead off base-runners in the first four innings against Pruitt but did not score until Sharif Othman drove in Jeff Mathis with a single in the fourth inning. The Suns went 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position on the night and stranded ten men on base.

Justin O'Conner got the Biscuits offense going with a two run double in the second inning. Boog Powell followed later in the inning with a doublet that drove in another run to make it 3-0. Cameron Seitzer added a sac fly after a Daniel Robertson triple in the fifth inning to make it 4-1. Biscuits scored their final run in the seventh inning with a ground ball from Tyler Goeddel to put the Biscuits up 5-1.

The Suns rallied in the ninth inning to score two runs. With two outs and a man on base, Zach Cox was the potential tying run but grounded out to second base to end the game.

The Biscuits have now won four-straight games against the Suns dating back to April.

Game two of the series is Tuesday night at 6:05 CT. RH Jared Mortensen will be on the mound for the Biscuits while RH Jake Esch will throw for the Suns.
