Mississippi Braves News Release
PEARL, MS -- After back-to-back rainouts over the weekend against Pensacola, the Jackson Generals plated three runs after the seventh inning, breaking a 2-2 tie and defeating the Mississippi Braves 5-2 at Trustmark Park Monday evening. The series continues with a doubleheader Tuesday at 5:00 PM.
Mississippi (26-22) scored two runs on nine hits while Jackson (21-27) plated five runs on 11 hits. Jack Reinheimer led the Generals with a 3-for-5 night at the plate. Ian Miller Dan Paolini added two hits apiece. For the Braves, Mallex Smith, Emerson Landoni and KD Kang all collected two-hit games.
Landoni walked and Kang singled, putting runners at the corners to start the first. Kevin Ahrens then grounded into a fielder's choice, driving home Landoni for the game's first run.
Jordy Lara and Paolini both singled to start the Generals' third before Marcus Littlewood delivered a sacrifice fly to left field, tying the game at 1-1.
The M-Braves responded in the bottom of the frame. Smith singled and stole second. Landoni reached via base hit to center, and then Kang delivered a RBI-single to left field to put the Braves back out front 2-1.
Miller tripled with two outs in the fifth for Jackson. He came in to score the tying run on a Tyler Smith base hit up the middle.
The Generals took a 4-2 lead in the eighth. Miller walked and stole second. He came in to score on a Reinheimer double to center field. Jabari Blash then singled to left field, plating Reinheimer from second. Blash moved to second on the throw.
