McMyne Selected as BC Relief Pitcher of the Month for May

MARIETTA, GA - The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs announces the Southern League-BC Relief Pitcher of the Month for May. Righthander Kyle McMyne of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Cincinnati Reds) was selected for the honors after converting each of his five save opportunities during the month.

Over 14.1 innings, McMyne recorded a 0.63 ERA with 10 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.05. The Old Forge, Pennsylvania native appeared in a league-high 13 contests, taking over the high-pressure closer's role during the month. McMyne has currently held league batters scoreless over his last 11.2 innings. His ERA was lowest among all active league relievers with at least 10 innings of work. With their fourth round pick of the 2011 draft, the Reds selected McMyne out of Villanova University. Over 23.2 innings this season, the righty has allowed just two runs with 14 strikeouts, establishing a 0.76 ERA.
