Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (29-28) were able to hold off a late rally from the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (20-36) and work around five errors in a 9-7 win over Pensacola Monday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

The Biscuits entered the ninth inning leading 9-4. C.J. Riefenhauser (5) got a ground out to start the inning, but then an error and a single followed by another error made it a 9-5 game with two on for Joe Mather. The former Big Leaguer ripped a two-run double down the leftfield line to make it 9-7. With the tying run at the plate, Riefenhauser retired the next two batters to end the game.

The Biscuits offense scored throughout. After the Wahoos scored two runs in the first inning, Cameron Seitzer and Todd Glaesmann had consecutive-RBI-singles in the bottom of the first to tie the game at two.

Seitzer continued his successful night at the plate with a two-run double in the third inning, followed by a run-scoring double from Keith Castillo. The two run-scoring knocks were part of a four-run third to give the Biscuits a 6-4 lead.

The Biscuits added three runs in the eighth inning to make it 9-4 Montgomery.

Jake Thompson allowed four runs - only two earned - through 5.1 innings for the win. Erik Hamren made his Biscuits-debut and pitched 1.2 scoreless-innings.

Game three is Tuesday night at 7:05. RHP Merrill Kelly is on the hill for the Biscuits while RHP Daniel Renken will throw for Pensacola.
