MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Southern League announced today that Biscuits catcher and designated hitter, Keith Castillo has been selected as the Southern League Hitter of the Week for the games spanning from May 27 to June 2.

Castillo - promoted to the Biscuits from SS-A Hudson Valley on May 18 - went 10-for-19 with three doubles, a home run, five RBI and four runs scored this past week. His breakout game came on May 29 against Mississippi. The 25-year old went 3-for-4 with two doubles and career-highs with three runs scored and four RBI in a win for the Biscuits.

Castillo's performance this past week was instrumental in the Biscuits taking four-of-five from the South Division-leading Mississippi Braves.

The Rays signed Castillo as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Southern California in 2011. He becomes the second player to win Player of the Week honors this year for the Biscuits. LHP C.J. Riefenhauser won the award in the middle of April.
